The runners, sponsors, donors, and volunteers were awesome…and oh yeah the weather helped a bit too!!! We only have 5 days left till the race and here are some last minute details:
1) Carpool to the race if you can
2) Online registration closes at 4PM today!
3) Pre-race packet pickup at New England Running Company on Friday (10-7) and Saturday (9:30-6). Address is 43 Enon Street in Beverly.
4) You CAN get you packets at the race and you CAN also register at the race…$26 for registration now.
5) VOLUNTEERS SHOULD GET TO THE RACE BETWEEN 7-7:30!!!

It’s hard to believe but it is all coming together. We have about 600 entrants thus far, way ahead of last year. Please feel free to bring extra friends to the race as we are looking for additional volunteers! Also, PLEASE CARPOOL with as many people as you can…keep it legal though. I have secured “green” porta-potties and am really trying to cut down on paper usage for this year. Thanks for all of your support and as always let me know if you have any questions.

The shirts are in and about to be printed and we are getting a ton of applications. There are about 600-700 registrants already so please don’t ask if there are any more shirts available! It seems like we are getting all the rain out of the way now so it’s going to be a great race day as far as weather goes. As always we are still looking for volunteers. The online registration is open (check out the “registration” page of the site) and the paper applications are available too. Please register online as I am trying to cut down on the amount of paper used. Sign up early to secure your Nike Dri-Fit shirts!!! In regards to the shirts, I WILL NOT be holding on to shirts that are not picked up before or at the race. ALL leftover shirts will be going to runners who did not already get a shirt.

On another note…New England Running Company will be hosting a fundraising event on March 23rd from 7-9PM. Jack Fultz, who won the Boston Marathon in 1976, will be the keynote speaker. Please check www.nerunningco.com for more details.

I hope you’re all staying motivated despite all the snow we’ve received thus far…there’s more coming this weekend too!!! For the Third Annual Lone Gull 10K we are trying to make the race as “green” as possible. What this means to the runners is TBD but I am just thinking of different ways to cut waste without affecting the quality of the race. As long as everybody is on board there shouldn’t be any issues. We have some ideas already but PLEASE post any thoughts on the matter since I would love to hear what you all have to say.

I hope that 2009 is a great year for everybody and that you can all join us for the Third Annual Lone Gull 10K!!! The 2009 race will be run on Sunday, September 20th at 9AM and this year’s edition has been voted in as the USATF New England Grand Prix 10K Championship. The updated race application will be available towards the end of January and ditto for the online registration.

The Second Annual Lone Gull 10K saw course records set by Wilson Perez on the men’s side (32:06) and by Julie Spolidoro for the ladies in a time of 35:52. Congrats to all of you runners!
