Going Green
Good day runners. I hope you’re all staying motivated despite all the snow we’ve received thus far…there’s more coming this weekend too!!! For the Third Annual Lone Gull 10K we are trying to make the race as “green” as possible. What this means to the runners is TBD but I am just thinking of different ways to cut waste without affecting the quality of the race. As long as everybody is on board there shouldn’t be any issues. We have some ideas already but PLEASE post any thoughts on the matter since I would love to hear what you all have to say.

Hi Wes!
A few ideas (some better than others):
Save the paper bibs and have numbers printed on the shirts? I know traditionally Nike has sponsored the race & supplied the shirts, so I don’t know if they would do this. Here’s a company that does: http://www.wearyournumber.com/
Use recycle-able cups for water stops (and recycle them, of course).
Long shot: ask participants to bring their own plates, utensils & cups for the post-race breakfast?
Just a few thoughts. I’m looking forward to the 2009 race (already!).
